The papers in this collection are divided into three groups, the Anna Ella Carroll papers, the Cradock family papers, and the Jensen family papers, dating 1738-1968. This collection contains manuscript and photograph material pertaining to Charles Edward Phelps (1833-1908), a Union Army officer during the Civil War, U.S. Congressman from the third district of Maryland, a judge on the Circuit Court of Baltimore, and later a professor of equity at the University of Maryland Law School. Collection includes photographs and correspondence between Phelps and family members, as well as materials relating to Phelps's military service.
